The change from Information Management Specialist (IMS) to Diplomatic Technology Officer (DTO) is part of the Department of State’s commitment to modernizing and optimizing its IT workforce to lead in the realm of emerging technologies. This role is designed for highly adaptive IT professionals who thrive in an ever-changing environment.
DTOs are part of a global team shaping the future of diplomatic technology, working domestically and abroad at over 275 overseas posts in nearly 200 countries. They are at the forefront of managing and protecting the technology that enables modern diplomacy.
The Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship is a path to a career as a DTO in the Foreign Service. A high-profile Department of State diversity recruitment program, the FAIT Fellowship seeks to attract top technology talent to the Foreign Service that reflects the diversity of the United States.
