Washington (Dec. 17, 2024) As a Financial Partner with the Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship, Susquehanna University (Susquehanna) will provide scholarships to FAIT Fellows enrolling in its eligible undergraduate degree programs. This scholarship, along with the FAIT Fellowship tuition assistance, will fully fund the last two years of the FAIT Fellow’s bachelor’s degree program at Susquehanna.

“We are excited to become a Financial Partner with this U.S. Department of State diversity recruitment program,” says Michaeline Shuman, Assistant Provost for Post-Graduate Outcomes. “The FAIT Fellowship’s commitment to attracting candidates that reflect the diversity of the United States aligns with Susquehanna’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity.”

These undergraduate degree programs at Susquehanna are eligible for the FAIT Fellowship:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Science in Data Science

FAIT Fellows must be enrolled full-time and be on a timeline to graduate after completing four full-time semesters (fall and spring) during their two-year fellowship.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by TWC, the FAIT Fellowship is a merit and needs-based diversity recruitment program that provides two years of academic funding (up to $43,500 annually) for an IT-related bachelor’s or master’s degree program while preparing fellows to enter the Foreign Service as Diplomatic Technology Officers.

“The FAIT Fellowship aims to attract qualified candidates to the Foreign Service who represent the diversity of the United States,” says Shannan Spisak, Executive Director of Federal Initiatives for The Washington Center. “The generous scholarship funding from Susquehanna University eliminates the financial barrier for FAIT Fellows, opening an opportunity they otherwise may not have been able to afford.”

The FAIT Fellowship provides:

  • Up to $43,500 annually (for two years) in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expenses (see eligibility requirements).
  • Stipends, housing and travel allowances for the two summer internships: A domestic internship in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. Department of State and an overseas internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
  • Personalized mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the program.

Upon successful completion of the fellowship program and Foreign Service entry requirements, FAIT Fellows receive an appointment as a Diplomatic Technology Officer in the Foreign Service.
