Foreign Service Specialist Career: Diplomatic Technology Officer
The FAIT Fellowship is your path to a career as a Diplomatic Technology Officer (DTO) in the U.S. Foreign Service.
Upon successful completion of the two-year Fellowship program and the State Department’s requirements, you will receive an appointment as a DTO with a minimum commitment of five years upon entry into the Foreign Service.
As a DTO, you will be part of a global team shaping the future of diplomatic technology. You will support and maintain hundreds of applications and provide IT services domestically and abroad at over 275 overseas posts in nearly 200 countries.
This role is designed for highly adaptive IT professionals who thrive in an ever-changing environment. You will be at the forefront of managing and protecting the technology that enables modern diplomacy.
In efforts of promoting our diplomatic and American values at home and abroad, you will serve your country by maintaining secure, reliable IT tools and resources ensuring that the U.S. State Department, other federal agencies, non-government partners, and Americans overseas can effectively communicate. You will gain experiences that few other IT professions offer, including the reward of living in a foreign country while experiencing different cultures and helping to protect U.S. interests abroad.
